A brief history:
Based in Wolfsburg Germany, VW is a world renown manufacturer and has been making cars since 1937 when it was setup originally by the Nazi trade union. At the time the only vehicles around were luxury cars owned by very few people. They soon expanded into ‘people’s cars’. In 1933 Adolf Hitler became involved in VW demanding that a vehicle be made for his people as accessible as the American’s making a car that could hold 2 adults and 3 children and travel at 62mph.
Hitler created an accessible savings plan for his people and more than 300,000 people signed up. After being rescued by a British Army Officer post-war VW continue to see huge success the world over with iconic vehicles like the VW Beetle.
